This blog is intended to be a place where I can catalog all the recipes for “natural” remedies and life lessons collected over the years. I will include my personal study of herbology (Neville Longbottom was a guy after my own heart), essential-oil mixology and bizarre but amazingly effective “cures” found in your everyday medicine cabinet. And food! Food will definitely be “on the table”. I may share prose and even the occasional short story.
Disclaimer 1: Nope. My name is not really Marmalene.
Most people know me as Judy Best. Judith Arlene Best, to be exact. To my children, my first name has always been “Mama”. My youngest had fun with the more formal appellation of “Mama Arlene”. After a while, “Mama Arlene” morphed into Marmalene and the moniker stuck.
Though I’m not a stay-at-home mom, I love being Marmalene and taking care of my family. Parenting is one of the most important things I’ve done with my life.
Disclaimer 2: Let me state right up front that I am not proposing that you give up modern medicine…
But let’s face it. If your family is anything like mine, someone will come down with something late on a Friday afternoon before a long holiday weekend. I’m merely suggesting that something on these pages might help you and your loved ones out of a bind – or at least make the wait until regular office hours a little more bearable for everyone involved.
And don’t forget! “Mind over matter” well, matters. Believing alternatives can be effective is half the battle (placebo anyone?)
Disclaimer 3: There will be no empirical proof, no scientific explanations in these pages.
I am not a physician nor am I a licensed practicing anything. I am a mother sharing economical and practical tips and tools that you, dear reader, just might find useful. Use your best judgment. Do your own research. Take my findings with the proverbial grain of salt and call your Primary Care Provider on Tuesday morning if need be. I’m just saying.
Having gotten all of that out of the way I hope you come back often to explore the result of my research into alternative healing and self-discovery. Let the journey begin!
